Requirements
- Must have an outgoing personality and also have the ability to be ‘firm, yet courteous’ when situations warrant
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Possess a valid state driver’s license, if required to operate company vehicles
- Possess or qualify for a California state ‘Guard Card’
- Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Possess a drug free lifestyle
- Have a solid work ethic, verifiable work history and great attitude!

Operation Manager - Oakland, CA

Block by Block, a division of SMS Holdings, is seeking a well rounded leader in the Oakland, CA area to serve as our Operations Manager for the Downtown Oakland and Lake Merritt Safety Ambassador Program.
Block by Block is the leader in providing safety, cleaning and hospitality ambassador programs to downtown improvement districts throughout the United States. Our programs are designed to improve the perceptions of security and hospitality and duties are carried out by courteous personnel, who we train to serve as ¡¥Ambassadors¡¦ of the area or downtown they serve.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The position is responsible for providing daily oversight and direction to a fifteen person Safety Ambassador Team serving Downtown Oakland and the Lake Merritt area.
The position will spend at least 70% of their time outside mentoring staff, verifying work completed, actively participating in tasks and interacting with district stakeholders.
Duties include, but not limited to, overseeing all work performed, recruitment, selection, and training of all personnel; deploying resources in accordance with service agreement; managing resources within established budget; developing local operating processes and policies; creating a fun and inviting atmosphere for employees, residents, workers, and visitors of Downtown Oakland, and working closely with our customer, the Downtown and Lake Merritt Community Benefit Districts, city departments, and the corporate office to implement new strategies and innovating programs to continually improve the level of security and hospitality in Downtown and Lake Merritt.
REQUIREMENTS
Ideal candidate should have at least three-five years of management experience, preferably in a similar industry (security, law enforcement, government, or customer service); verifiable work experience; possess good understanding of sound human resource applications related to selection, training, coaching, and termination; clear understanding of customer service and the impact on ensuring positive outcomes with staff interacting in the public domain; effective written and verbal communication skills; PC literacy is necessary (MS Office); goal oriented; ability to work independently and be a team player; enjoy working in a high energy, results-oriented environment; pass a thorough background investigation, to include drug screen.

Clean Ambassador - Georgetown, DC

They maintain the outward appearance through a mixture of productivity enhancing equipment and manual litter collection. Clean Ambassadors provide litter collection, weed control and removal, graffiti removal, pressure washing and hospitality services. Ambassadors assist various agencies in communicating criminal activity, especially “Quality of Life” crimes, such as panhandling, public intoxication, public urination and trespassing. They serve as additional 'eyes and ears" for local law enforcement and interact with homeless people and local social service outreach programs, organizations and agencies. Cleaning Ambassadors are required to perform safety duties as directed.

- Possess a valid state driver’s license, if required to operate company vehicle to transport equipment and/or supplies
- Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate (Although either of the two documents is preferred, a waiver, dependent upon work history and background may be granted)

- Starting wage of $9.00
